Every first Friday of every month a massive amounts of food trucks storm Abbot Kinney in Venice. I’ve gone several times and do my best to try new trucks every time. I managed to go to four trucks and split a dish or two at every truck. Here are some snapshots of Abbot Kinney, cool trucks I saw (and want to try) and the food I tried this time!
Now to the food we did try…
We had our “first course” at The Flying Pig. We tried the Pork Bun and Pork Taco. Great way to start the night.
Our next stop was the highlight of the night– the most amazing Lobster Roll Truck. We wanted to get back in line for seconds but decided we should probably try some other trucks first!
After our lobster, we tried a good ol’ fashioned BBQ truck. We got the Brisket with a side of Mac and Cheese.
I usually try to find my favorite dessert food truck to put the cherry on top of an amazing culinary experience. Fortunately and unfortunately, I couldn’t find it because I did find an incredible gelato place. The flavors are all cutting edge and the ingredients are so fresh.
We ordered the Bourbon Caramel Pecan and the White Chocolate Raspberry. I want to go back and try more flavors because the two we tried were unreal.
I highly recommend First Fridays- such a fun experience! My favorite meals are the ones that are drawn out and this one is the epitome- you go to each truck and taste what they have to offer. I love asking what their specials are, it really gives you a sense of what they have! To leave you, here’s a snapshot my boyfriend took of me during our “first course” doing what I love best….
